Acer Aspire One – portability and affordability at its best

Acer is always known to rule the hearts of the technology-freaks with its unique innovations. The new Acer Aspire is an addition to the list. Aspire One is an ultra portable notebook and is widely accepted by the gadget-lovers in the recent times. Some lovingly describe it as a sub-notebook. Though it looks very simple, it gives a tough time to some who find it a bit complicated and hard to handle.
Photogenic appearance
Then what makes this notebook gain such mass appeal? Firstly, it comes in a striking black color, which makes it easy to be photographed. The keyboard is decently sized and is quite comfortable. The firm grip is sure to give you quite a gratifying feel. A small plastic frame dimensioning 245 mm x 165 mm x 25 mm practically has everything installed in it and makes it a perfect choice for those who would simply want it for browsing net and accomplishing simple office tasks.
Technically strong
Packed with a 512 MB RAM, an 8 GB SSD storage drive, a 1.6 GHz Atom CPU, and an 802.11 g/b wireless card, gives it a winning edge over others falling under the same classification. It also has a webcam, which is not so tempting but functions well enough. You can always go for an upgrade if you feel a bit dissatisfied with its technical constraints. Whatever you wish you can throw it in – be it expanding the storage or throwing in an extra slice of RAM. The model also features the Linpus Linux Lite operating system and the applications are well-organized into distinct sections, such as, Connect, Work, Fun, and Files.
In terms of connectivity
In terms of connectivity, Acer Aspire One runs on standard gamut with 3 USB ports and an SD card reader. This notebook is also equipped with an Ethernet port along with headphone and microphone ports with Dual memory features. Another port to add some exotic flavors gives it an extra edge over its contemporaries.
Performance metrics
It’s always better to judge Acer Aspire One in terms of portability rather than performance. Weighing only about two pounds, it’s a sheer delight to carry this notebook to work or to accomplish other personal errands. It will be a strict no-no to run speeds tests on Acer Aspire One. It also comes with a one-year International Travelers Warranty (ITW).
Usability
The right ‘Shift’ not being undersized will be a boon to the touch-typists. The soft rounded edge with a glossy surface is quite comfortable to hold.
To sum up
Acer Aspire One is desired by one and all not only because it is highly portable but also because it is quite affordable and user-friendly. The only bad thing is its wimpy battery life and the fact that it comes without Bluetooth. But overall, it rocks with its attractive, slim design and easy availability with a low price tag.

I was looking for a compact laptop that I could use between home and work and also take on my frequent road trips to visit my family. My biggest gripe about laptops in the past has been the short battery life, so I was very pleased when my Acer came from Amazon yesterday (April 9th) with the 5800mAh battery. I don’t know about speed with the standard 1GB memory because I replaced mine with 2GB (so easy a caveman can do it) before I ever turned it on. But it boots up fast and is surprisingly quick. I love the size. It fits perfectly in my leather notebook. I touch type and while the keyboard is a little small it is very easy to get used to. Like some have reported, the touchpad buttons are a little stiff but they have a positive feel to them. It’s a non-issue with me because I hate touchpads in general and use them only in a pinch. I found a nice little Logitech USB mouse for about $19 that’s even a perfectly matching cobalt blue. The first option you will need for most any of these netbooks is a good USB DVD burner to load your software and make backup emergency disks. I bought one just before I bought the netbook. The 10″ display is bright and extremely sharp. The setup was simple I was up and running on my wireless network in less than 5 minutes. Most of my time was spent removing bloatware and building emergency recovery disks. This is really a great little computer with a solid feel and very attractive to look at. At the price you cannot beat this little netbook.

It is exactly as i thought it would be!
Baterry last for like 4 to 5 hours of hard use!
The keyboard is a litle small, but it works just fine, you get used to it!
The only bad thing is the webcam, could be a 1.3 mpixel! It only 0.3!
